How to teach my dog not to bark?

My choco-poodle will be coming in nx week. I used to keep jack russells years ago. I had this barking problem with my jacks back then. The boy only whined but nvr bark since birth but the girl will bark whenever some1 at the door, even me coming home! so just need tips from you guys out there who can enlighten me 1) does the barking come as nature of the dog? 2) if not, how do we teach them not to if they happen to be barky type?

In my opinion the barking come as nature of the dog. It is one of many ways how the dog express her/his emotions. I'm not expert of poodle so I can give you any useful advice.
